First full work day

Today was awesome, we all worked so hard. Our projects for today were to dig the footers for Amber and Jako’s permanent house (they’ve been living in tents for more than 6 years), modifying a generator so Jako can have a mobile welding machine, and clearing a field for the orphanage’s school. There’s so much to do here, and God willing, we’ll knock out a huge chunk.

To the Ervin girls, we are working really hard but we miss you lots. Love Mommy and Daddy. :)

To Ian, Chris, Nigel, and Olivia, we miss you, we love you, and we are working really hard. We pray for you every night. Love Mom and Jim

Kirkwood Presbyterian, Ed says “things are swell in the bush”, and we’re getting a lot of work done.

To the Taylors, Mom and Dad, we’re doing great, love you guys!

Josh, happy 13th birthday!

  1. Hey All! We are praying for you! God is about great things! Please tell Amber and Jako hello for me. I wish I was there. One day! ;)

God is also up to some interesting things here...We just had camp with the students, and on the third night - close to 25 students stood up and declared they felt a calling from God to full time ministry - most of them specifically said they felt called to full time foreign missions! These students are on fire!

We have decided to take the next three weeks to focus on missions on Sunday mornings with the students. Each of these three weeks we are going to highlight what God has been doing through the various trips that students and members of our church have been on this year. We would love to have you all share with us what God is doing there in Zambia on the third week- Aug 16 – if this is possible. We could give you anywhere from 20 – 60 minuets – whatever time you all felt you could use to share with our students and excite them about what God is up to. Testimonies, slides shows, videos…personal challenges… the whole team – or just those who can make it.

I know that we have taken an opportunity to do this with the church as a whole – but if we could do this in addition to that – I really think that would be awesome!

Please pray about this as you are there – and ask the Lord what He would have. ;-)

We love you all and are praying with you!
    John

  2. Hello all. Praise God no bags were lost (I am so sorry no one gets to experience what I did)and you are all safe and sound in Zambia. I know as you all have commented that you are working hard (been there done that) but so enjoying the challenges that each day brings. I am praying for you all there. Give Jako and Amber a hug and rub her belly for me!
    Blessings - Christine

  3. HELLO AMBER--
WERE YOU SURPRISED AT YOUR "SURPRISE" SHOWER? I'M DISAPPOINTED THAT ONE OF THE LADIES DIDN'T DO THE REPORTING OF IT. BILL DANE DOES A REAL GOOD JOB...BUT A WOMAN WOULD HAVE PUT IN A FEW MORE DETAILS. I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN WE HEARD YOU WERE EXPECTING AND I THINK IT WAS A TOUCH OF GENIUS FOR "WHOEVER" THOUGHT UP THE SHOWER.

JAKU, WHAT IS THAT ON YOUR HEAD?
    BLESSINGS TO ALL-- LINDA PAULES
