While Amber and Jako were here, we heard that another baby was brought to the orphanage. A mother, (victim of Aids), passed away and the father needed help. So she is there shortly to work on her health and mobility until she can return again to her father within the next year. Her name is Esther. You can read more about her on Amber and Jako's blog.
And now, 2 more new additions have arrived - the message we received from Amber and Jako is as follows:
It's good to be back in Zambia again. We now have two new babies in the house (since we left for the States). Little Salomi is about 5 weeks old now (still tiny though). And we just got in Maenza about a week or so ago. He was born November 6 making him a full month older than Jakob but only weighing 15 lbs (which Jakob weighed when he was 4 months old) and could barely even stand with assistance. He was up to 17 lbs or so at his peak but has lost a lot of weight in the past year, probably just due to lack of nutrition. But it's crazy to see his size compared to Jakob! He has already picked up 1/2 a lb though in the past week so that is good. Things are going well here - busy as usual, but it is good to be back. Jakob of course is loving being outside again with the dogs, chickens, pigeons and splashing around in the mud puddles with his new rain boots!
